I have a 30 breeder and wanted to know if cherry barbs are a good dither for a male cutteri? Cutteri are related to convicts.

I love using barbs as dithers. I've never tried cherry barbs specifically, but they should be fine.
I would say no. they are too small.
cutteri can be quite nasty, and will likely kill them which defeats the purpose of dithers.
you want something that can take a little more nipping, like a school of tiger barbs or aurelius barbs.
they can stand up to the aggression better than cherry barbs would.
barbs are great for this, just not that particular barb, which are slower, friendly and stay quite smaller than most of the other barbs out there.

I think ill keep my female in this tank then since shes not aggressive at all.

Don't sleep on Tiger barbs! PetSmart currently have them for $1 each. They also have Silver dollars for a buck.

Not bc i bought them and asked. Ive had them an had to move them so now theyre in the 30. Ill move the male out and just leave the female with them.
