Are Clown loaches fine in a 55g

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If they don't fit in the mouths of the del and gt and the gt isn't super aggressive, they should be fine. There is usually a pretty good market for bigger clowns on here so you shouldn't have much trouble selling them when the time comes

takes clowns quite a bit of time to hit 8" from what I hear. I have 2 in my 55 currently. Getting about 10 more and they will all go into their own 55. Where I will grow them to 5ish inches before they go into my 300. I like them a lot and don't want them to be food for the bigger boys that will be in there.

from what ive read it can take them 20 years to get to there full 12 + inches

Bichirs have been known to go after small loaches... GT shouldn't be an issue. The CL's will easily outrun him.

My clowns are 4.5-6" and with an oscar and an ornate bichir. Neither has ever really given my loaches trouble. Just make sure there are plenty of hiding places

I have 4 clown loaches in a 55g. Two are in the 7-8" range.........i've had them for probably 6 years now, bought them at under 2 inches. They don't grow very quickly. I think you're good for 7-8 years, and as stated earlier....there's always people looking for the big clown loaches.

Would it be alright to start them in a 2g for a couple weeks of powerfeeding? because i really can't afford the larger ones.

A 2 gallon tank is suitable only for goldfish crackers and marbles. DO NOT put fish in it.

Even a tupperware bin from walmart with a heater and a filter would be an improvement.
