Are convicts normally this colourful?

Caught some snaps of this guy at the local petsmart. I didn't know they are so colourful! Is this the norm??

Females can definitely have nice color. Having kept them and HRP, female convicts have way more red/orange than HRP.

I have a male with a big group of tiger barbs and a small syno cat. He only gives the catfish a hard time sometimes. They're in 48x18 tank though.

Yup females are definitely more colorful. Here's my girl in her heyday. She's darkened up quite a bit as she's aged.
