okk i got a 55 long, i just got one indo datnoid about 2-3 in on last week friday (4/22/11) and i puuted him in with one red devil, one jag and a convict (ok i know thats not a good mix but just listen) my convict was chasing my datnoid so i took him out, and every thing went well after, no cichlids was bothering my dat.today (4/26/11) i got 2 new datnoids (2-3 in) from the same person and right when i putted them in my datnoid attacked him as well as my red devil. right now my datnoid is chasing the 2 new danoids. my red devil doesn't pick on them alot. but my datnoid is chasing them around. what can i do to stop this or just leave them is this how they really are? when i had my datnoid with the RD and JAG i feed them feeders did this make him aggressive? help please!

dats will usually fight among them each other..i guess you can leave it as is, just keep an eye on them, worst case separate them if you have to

You shouldn't be feeding feeders... Anyways datnoids are aggressive fish. You can probably try to isolate the bully for a few days and release him and see what happens. People usually get 5+ datnoids so that aggression isn't really directed as much on a few fish. It would be more spread out.

datnoids are aggressive but ur problem, if it arises, will be that the cichilds will grow much faster and will easily be able kill your dats when it happens

so guys i should isolate him for how long? is it bad that i got only 3? would they beat each other up to they get cuts and stuff or is it just normal?

I wouldn't put a Dat with those fish they'll fairly quickly out grow it. And like Shua71 said getting more keeps them occupied with each other and lowers aggression. Like now I'm raising 7 Indos together and I have little to no issues with aggression what so ever.

lets say i get more like at a pet store or something arent they gonna fight because they like havent seen each other? lol idk what im saying

I bought mine all individually usually one per week and the newest member was kind of chased away by the Dats already in the tank. After I had 4 dats they all started to get along.
