Are decorations needed?

I have a 29 and I was just wondering how much decorations should i have, if any. I see a lot of tanks having very few places to hide and decor, so I was just wondering if I was overdoing it... I have a lot of cichlids and two flowerhorns and some other fishes..

Depends on the fish. Top level fish usually dont need or want a place to hide. Bottom fish tend to need more hiding spots. It really does depend on the temperment issues in your tank as well. More decor can remove the "line-of-sight" from aggressive fish thus reducing the frequency of aggression. If you are worried about clutter, try removing one thing at a time until you are satisfied with the fishes behavior.

I don't see any fish in the photo. Why is the tank divided?
Just a suggestion, add water.

Thanks, this was really helpful. There are fishes in there, they're just a bit camouflaged aha. And the right is for my small flowerhorn.

Nice cichlids but the tank is WAY TOO SMALL. You will need a new tank ASAP.... It's really sad seeing that fh stuck in such a tiny area. Get a bigger tank for them bro.
