before i get some i was wondering if they are easy to breed

From what I understand they are one of the easier cichlids to breed. Convicts and yellow labs being easier. Those that have them and don't want fry actual put in different types of catfish to keep the fry population down :)

easy to breed if you have 6+ with more females then males in a 40 long or 55 gallon long with caves ;)

Have bred them many times as well as yellow elec labs.

If you keep them in a big group they are pretty easy to breed. Just have plenty of rocks for hideouts and keep them well fed. I had a breeding group of 17 and they bred every 2 weeks. They breed a lot better than my group of yellow labs. I also noticed that they don't eat their fry. Had more fry than I know what to do with them. Sold them cause I couldn't pass up on the great offer.

i just got into breeding dems
Ive had mine for around 6 months bouth some adults and some small ones now there all breeding size it took mine around 2-3 months to get breeding. I have a group of 14 and they breed well have had 6 spawns since ive got them. Just give them time to start. you Can check out my tank on youtube type in lilbabyemma08 on youtube and look at my recent vid

If you feed them more are they more likely to breed? Also how difficult is it to net out the fry once the mother spits?

As with most cichlids, water changes and water quality will the the biggest factor in breeding.

Are you good with a net?

haha. I'm alright but the problem will be all the rock work. I cant put them in my 10 gallon because i have 5 apistogramma babies in there which i fear the mother will eat. However the babies would be fine with them. So i'm not sure what i could do.
