I had a juvenile pair of Trimac's and the male died.

Can I put the female trimac in a 180 gal community tank with an Oscar, JD's, GT, Firemouths?

Thanks!

If shes not the biggest fish in the tank, Id try it, just keep an eye on them. The odds are at least 50/50, even better the smaller she is.

Ive seen it work before in almost the same setup.

If everyone dwarfs her by a few inches, it might work for awhile. Id just have plenty of hiding spots for the others.

If shes the same size or bigger than the others, I doubt it. Who knows though...those you listed arent much competition to her...or can learn not to be.

I have a new 150 gal tank set up that I was going to put the pair of Trimac's in, but I didn't want the female in a specimen tank by herself. I am going to put a juvenile Jag in that tank. The Jag so far is not aggressive, but territorial. So:

Will a female Trimac and a female (I think) Jag work out in a 150 gal together?

The only tankmates my trimac doesn't try to kill are the ones seperated by glass or a very sturdy divider. Sorry, just the way it normally works out. There are some exceptions though.

I bought 4 F0 juneal Trimacs hoping for a pair or two.... but they ended up being 4 females... They are currently between 6~7.5"

As they grew to young adulthood.... 2 of the females will not tolerate any tankmates... 1 is very aggressive but can coexist with other robust/aggressive tankmates.... the last one does fine in a community tank with typical SA/CA tankmates (at least for now)...

Having watched mine for the last year... I would not expect them to be able to coexist with tankmates long term...
