what is the aggression level of frontosas with other fish? i am wanting to put them in with some datnoids but i have never had any african cichlids and dont have the slightest idea if this will work. i have read they are not aggressive to other species and have a relatively slow growth rate

yeah but when they get bigger the males might beat up on the other males to show dominance but he wont mess with the other fish.

I would size them out to eachother, other then that I dont think you will have issues. I used to have datnoids that I kept with my other frontosa along time ago.

I would say they are some of the more peaceful cichlids out there except maybe when the other fish are to tempting to eat. They don;t go out of their way to harm other fish though.

I have never tried this, but have heard other hobbyist using them to control attitude in tanks.

I know one guy that put a 5-6" Front male in an 75 full of aggressive 3" male mbunas. Due to his size, the mbuna reduced their attitude and he didn't mess with anyone.

That would only work if the Front was much bigger than the other fish.

Give me some time and I'll have a better answer for you. I recently introduced a 2 inch front to my Roseline shark/clown loach/ tetra tank. Should be interesting to say the least. :)
