Are gulper cats really that pricey?

Everywhere I look online the cheapest gulpers I can find are at least 150$ a pop. I asked my LFS if they could get a few in for me and they had no idea what they were. Can anyone suggest a place I could offer a few from?

They are tough to find and not captive bred to my knowledge...you are paying the premium because they are live caught in the amazon and transported back. They used to be 600 bucks a few years ago. Aquabid.com usually has some but they are pricey...Aquascape.com usually has some or can get them at the 150-200 price. They aren't that popular/common due to the lack of knowledge and their ability to swallow a community tank in a night.

I've seen them go as low as $100 but I'd say 125-50 is normal right now.

yeah the only ones that i have seen were round 125 and 175 at my LFS and i havent seen them in about 7 or 8 months

I have 4 of them I got for $100 each about a year ago from Aquascape. I'm hoping to breed them someday but I don't think anyone has in the past so it's really a pipe dream.
