I am getting a gulper soon and I just want to know how hardy they are. He's gonna have a 55 all by himself with plenty of caves. I heard it takes them a month to settle in what does that mean ?

Also wheres the best place to get one ?

Get one from infinite aquatics or some other mfk vendor. They have the best prices. They dont really need that many hiding places, and a 55g is fine for life. They are real tough fish, but they seem to enjoy each others company. They might not eat for a while, but just keep trying to feed them. Once they start eating and settle in they will gorge themselves.

A sole Gulper is not the best idea. They like to be kept in numbers. At least 3.

a pair would be sweet i will have plenty of filtration and bio going by then any thoughts
?Thanks for the tip infinite aquatics is my next buy

I picked up 3 from rich at infinite aquatics just over a week ago and they're doing pretty good gorged on feeders right after being dropped in the tank about to start working on getting them to eat frozen. They have already accepted feeders from my tongs gonna try shrimp or fish fillet next.

They pretty much hang out with each other swimming goofily in the current and one will bumble across the tank explore a bit and then come crashing back into the group to resume the huddle of fat blind klutzes.

They don't seem to enjoy light and will swim away from it if possible. For the first couple of days they swam behind the rocks during the day or when my room lights were on. Now they swim out front most of the time until I turn the tank lights on then they go behind the rocks again, so not quite fully comfortable. They are definitely active at night. I watch them under lunar led lights and they'll swim all over.

Dunno how many Rich has left. I ended up getting cats that were a couple inches bigger than he advertised, if he measure head to tail at least.

Exactly the same behaviour of my pack of four.

God i just finished scouring the net for gulper video's and my tank just needs to finish its fishless cycling (Im on week 1) But I got some beneficial bacteria! So maybe it will be ready sooner than later and I can let them loose in my 55 (2 gulpers) Sound like a decent plan I got good filtration and setup (Plenty of hiding places))
