Been afraid to ask this one....I got a 9-10" Indo dat from a fellow MFKer about three months ago. The fish seems completely healthy. Not always stable but hand feeds every day and turns stable as night. Its eyes have never been clear they have not changed since the day I got it. Both eyes are exactly the same. They are not completely cloudy either. Very hard to get a worthy pic. Its eyes are cloudy compared to my other fish.

if not normal then what is the best treatment?? I fear to ask because of my Catfish in the tank. They have no where to go if i need to treat the tank. Please advise!!! I appreciate the help!

hmm.. those pics are.. well.. not the best.. I've seen fully functional dats wit an "iris" that is semi-transperant and somewhat blueish.. if the fish seems normal for 3 months I wouldn't worry but a better pic would be great!

Semi transparent and bluish sounds exactly right. Really hard to photo fish eyes!

I tried to get some light on the tank....lit em up like a flash.....you get the idea although the eyes are NOT clouded over like the new pic....lightly cloudy...

mm, yeah.. that's the one.. I've seen quite a lot of dats with those eyes.. I think this question has been up before.. try a search or wait for the other guys to chime in.. I know of some old ST's with these eyes, it doesn't seem to trouble them..

As dats get larger, it seems normal for their eyes to be blueish. All my dats have been like that. The only thing I would be concerned about is if the eye is whiteish, that is a sign of damage or blindness.

Thanks! No white coloring.....just a slight blueish haze...totally normal behavior and growth. Eats from my hand every morning!
