When setting up my big tank, I used a kissing gourami as a cycle fish. tank was cycled, I added my other stock. surprisingly, this kissing gourami is the most aggressive thing I own despite being under 2". It tries to bully EVERYTHING, including a couple blood parrots that exceed 7". it tries pecking at them, though they don't acknowledge it exists. I recently added some 4" severums to the tank. next thing I know, this tiny little gourami is chasing around these severums. I've even seen it chasing the 4 line pictus i keep. It's tried picking on my pleco, but the pleco just ignores it.

Now, this fish is going to eventually be rehomed either way, but I was wondering if its normal for these little buggers to be this mean.

ive heard quite a few people say that they're pretty mean

Kissers will pick on any fish especially slower moving fish. The kissing action that people think is so cute is actually fighting. The kissing action these fish do can rip fins and remove scales easily. This is why kissers need to be kept in pairs or multiples.

i have a single 7 inch pink kisser (other one died) in a tank with a dozen 1.5 inch tiger barbs and it does absolutly nothing towards them, very peaceful fish, maybe it is the exception to the rule.

trust me i own one and it is by far the biggest A-hole i have owned..
