I'm getting ready to build a bigger pond for my larger aro's and cats. I have a 22" niger that I'm a little concerned about. I know how sharp their spikes are if you rub them backward's. I don't really think it will be a issue, but is their anybody or have you heard of anybody's nigers poking a hole through a liner?

im kinda woundering the same thing buddy!! Im at the point of pond building for my kitties and am concerned about my 2 Nigers too

I guess there is some potential for concern but my niger doesn't seem to scratch my acrylic. I would think it would be ok. There are different thicknesses of liners so perhaps error on the side of caution and get a thicker one.

It will definatelly be one of the thicker ones. Just hoping someone has some inside information on does and dont's with nigers snd liners. I'm just kinda concerned about the serious weapons these guys are packing.
I read somewhere that someone had their pacu keep biting through their liner. That don't suprise me considering what my old one has eaten.

Bump

I wonder the same thing myself. I'll be in need of building something bigger for mine (~26") and I think I would go with one that is epoxied instead of lined with a liner to be on the safer side. It will cost more for the epoxy then the liner but not by that much. and you can get epoxy in colors and it will look nicer.
