I've noticed a lot of sites have lungfish in stock at the moment, but I have seen very very few in the past 8 months or so. Does anyone know if they're seasonal? I've been planning on getting one, but was going to wait a few months, but if the lungfish season will be over soon and I'll have to wait a year I may change my plans.

In my experience most wholesalers/retailer are more willing to order from africa in the cooler months. This likely has to do with the packing density of fish shipped from those areas. They try and fit as much as possible inn the bags. Warmer temps lead to lower oxygen in the bag which leads to more dead fish.

I think some folks like a huge log in their aquarium :)
For me! I think my enjoyment in this hobby change with ages LOL
I started to enjoy slow grower fish species, calm behave, calm activity in the tank rather than collect a bunch of robus fast grow, 24/7 nonstop activity fish species :P

I can understand how they wouldn't appeal to everyone, but if you're into oddballs then lungfish are awesome. They get huge, are unique looking, they're prehistoric, and they're FISH that have LUNGS! I have always been drawn to oddballs, a ton of activity in my tanks is never necessary. It's much more important to me that a fish be interesting.

If you still don't get it, check out this video. how can you not like a fish that can do this?
Amazing survival skill but I still don't see the attraction to own one LOL actually our LFS got one for sale (14 inches) and It sitting in same tank for over a year :p Everytime, I visit that LFS and random asked some folks how the fish look and all I got same answer over and over "it's ugly, I wouldn't buy it even the store pay me some money to take it home I still don't want it." :p
