I have a small 3 in BGK in my 125g. I want to add either a CK or an African brown. Would any of those be okay with my BGK? I know BGK and CK are carniovous, but are african browns carniovous too?
I'm not a big fan of mixing knives, so I wouldn't. I believe that African Knives also put out small electrical pulses (not too sure) and that may cause some territorial disputes. There is a possibility of CKs, but I've only heard of a few success stories.
I have kept both CK and BGK together in a 150 gal with no problems. i think hiding place might be the key though more place to hide less chance of a fight.
my bgk(10-11in) still got size on all my cks(5-9) so there fine. there in a 150. all have a cave so that may be helping lessen the aggression. i think bgks are worse with there own kind. he hates my brown ghost i added last month.,<that one barely approaches the bgk ...
Not necessarily. Knifefish species don't seem to get along, and three BKG's are going to be a problem in a 125 in the future. You could probably get away with a BGK and CK as others have said, depending on hiding spaces and how well you feed them. I know that they obviously need to breed together, but I believe this is done on a much larger scale. YOu could try it and deal with the hole in your wallet, but it seems a shame to risk the fishes life, especially since they don't readily breed in aquaria.
