As you can see from my sig, I have a small number of fish, but recently I started having problems. My oscar and the 2 pbass all have a pink sore on their bottom lip, and I can' figure where it came from. They are in a tank with a divider and are always rubbing their mouths against the divider, but can I be sure this is the problem? I haven't heard of any parasite or disease that affects only the end of the bottom lip, but I can't be sure. I posted some pics of my oscar on an earlier thread, and I'll try to get them on here. PLEASE help me....

sound like the divider is the problem. try putting some plants right in front of the divider. i had a silver aro that developed a little pink sore on it's bottom lip from rubbing it's face on the end of the tank i put plants on that end and problem solved. i hope this works for you too good luck.

Agreed, it sounds like abrasions. Are you using one of those dividers with little round holes, if so you could try replacing it with a divider made from eggcrate light diffuser, the larger opening are enough to stop the fish from rubbing, or at least this worked with a large rpb and a bluegill. A bit of salt (1 tbs/5g) or maybe melafix would not hurt while the abrasions heal, just to help cut the risk of wound fungus.

All those fish in a 55g your gonna have nothing but trouble you dont have room for 1 oscar never mind the pbass

Yep, a new tank is needed soon.
