Are my only 2 Albino Heckelii pairing up?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm not an expert to tell whether one is a female or male. Do you guys know if these two albino heckelii are pairing up based on the video below? If they are, I will move them out of my 300g to a 60g. Thanks!

It looks like aggression to me.
It is unlikely for heckelii to spawn in aquaria. They spawn by a female digging complex cave networks inside river banks that are quite long and at the end there will be a chamber where the pair will deposit and fertilise the eggs. I’m not saying they haven’t been spawned in aquaria but it is very unlikely.

I would never recommend you move the Heckelli into a tank smaller than your 300G. This species is known to have very high conspecies aggression when older and very commonly results in the dominate fish killing the rest if enough space isn’t provided

stiker stiker is on point on everything stated.

One of the ways to get them to spawn, according to some info, is to provide long pieces of PVC pipe, capped on one end, that mimic the type of Pleco dug caves, they use to spawn in, in nature. A size ranginging in the 3 to 4 ft long, and enough diameter to fit, and feel comfortable in.
Moving them to a smaller tank, will probably be the death of one.
Mine killed each other in a 150 gallon tank.

The males tend to have pronounced forehead profiles, like the one above.
