in a month ill have had my two 8 inch oscars for a year, and when i got them they werent even 2 inches. they were growing almost an inch a month until they hit 8 inches which was over 3 months ago. is it normal for their growth to slow so much or should they be bigger by now? according to my test kits, my water paramaters are great and theyr eating like pigs.

its in my sig, footprints 5'-18"-2', i feed them mostly cichlid gold pellets, along with shrimp, cichlid sticks, tubifex worms and frozen bloodworms.

they will slow down quite a bit after reaching the 8-10 inch mark..keep them well fed with a variety of foods, and keep the water pristine and they'll be fine

they just slowed down. my O grew to about 8-9" in about a year then about 1-2" each year after that. he was about 11" when he was 3 yrs old. give them time they will grow

They are on the small size for 1 Year. But that doesnt mean anything.
Some Oscars seem to grow at different rates.

Mine was 11" by a year old. He's now about 13" at 2 years old. And is just thickening up now instead of growing lengthwise.

But my other Oscar was still just 9" by a year old ..... dont know how big she would be now since the big guy killed her.

The main thing that stunts a fish's growth is poor water quality. That and poor nutrition. Sounds like those arent problems for your fish.
They might even have a growth spurt soon. I wouldnt worry.

thx everybody
