Just curious as to whether or not they're considered "hardy". What pH do they prefer? Reason I ask is, I have a tank that hasn't been cycled and I'm about to purchase some pbass. I'm going to throw a few fish into the tank to cycle but I'm not sure if all my nitrates will be down to 0ppm before the fish get here. Will they be fine in the cycling tank or should I put them in my other tank for now? Thanks guys! Greatly appreciated!

dont put them in there until your tank is cycled. a regular cycle will take 4-6 weeks. and its not only nitrates you have to worry about, but also ammonia and nitrites

i would wait for the tank to cycle too.. why risk it with pbass??

Thanks guys! Yeah, I'm aware of the cycling process and nitrates, nitrites, and ammonia. Just some fish I've had, like oscars, are a little more tolerant than other fish. I've been running the system with old filter media and will monitor the water. For now I guess I'll put them with my other fish.

Thanks again guys, really appreciate it.

Oh yeah, what pH? 8.0ish or neutral?

try 6.0 - 7.0 i feel they thrive and look their best at this P.H..

I wouldn't cycle a tank with any fish you intend on keeping long term.
