Are Pbass schooling fish?

I have a very nervous 6" kelberi pbass that would hide and run for cover whenever come to the front of the tank. He was in a 20g long by himself with two bichirs. Today I added two more 3" orinos into the tank and he was all over the place. I love my tank now.

As a rule the only sorta 'true' schooling cichlids are those of the etrolplus genus but cichla do seem to enjoy company of their own species. So i suppose they are

I'm guessing he means 20gal because I don't think there is a 200gal long. And I thought I overstocked with 6 juvi RBP in a 75gal.

You will usually encounter them in pairs or small fgroups in the wild. 7-8 is the largest group Ive seen.

You will find them solitary, but will also find others aren't to far off

i think size might have something to do with it. ive seen schools of 30+ 8 to 12 inch pbass(did have a 20+inch fish that was sorta leading them) and ive noticed the bigger they get the smaller the school. i saw some 15 to 18 inch fish in a school of 6 or 7. oh i did see some solitary fish. they were both huge males(20+ inches)
