I have a question for all you pufferheads out there. Are puffers really so much more susceptible to internal parasites than other fishes?

All over this forum (and **************.com) there are the same recommendations to treat for IP once you get a puffer.

Is this from personal experience or are people just doing what everyone else is?

I've been looking for info on fahakas so maybe it's species specific.
I've kept fish (marine and FW) for over 18 years now and I've never heard so much advice about treating for parasites. Makes me think they are more susceptible to infections than discus at this point.

Not any more than any other wild-caught fish. Many people have a fish for some time & then they just stop eating & waste away. they never connecct that is was IPs they had all that time. The folks at TPF are more in tune with the puffer's tendancy towards this, since they aren't bred in captivity. There's more long-term practical experience there, that's all.
