i feed him alot one day and he has been siting at the surface for awhile

swim bladder infection? does he swim around or float?

best to post some pics, if your sens are young then nothing is to worry about, as young bichirs tend to float alot.

my sen loves it at the top but i do have a few different types of floating plants and a 14" ornate who seems to be on the aggressive side...

My sen would float if she was really bored or tired or whatever, but she also started floating when she had internal bleeding, so you might want to get a good look at it's belly. If you fed it alot, it probably is sitting at the top to help digest it's food though.

So, you probably have no reason to worry, and I think your fish is fine, however, if you could get pics, that would be helpful

I agree, mine used to spend about 80% of the time floating at the top of the tank until it was around 5".
