I was just wondering if any of the bichirs are cannabalistic ? More specificaly , would a 5 inch albino senegal eat a 2 inch albino senegal? I was going to be adopting a new 2 incher but was worried that it may be eaten before I can transfer them 2 different tanks. Do you think that they will be alright for know? They are going in a temporary 29 gallon.

the size difference is too great and the big one most likely will eat the small one. maybe you can fashion some kind of divider.

Alright, thanks guys, I figured with fish anything that fits in their mouth is food? Luckily I may have other options! Thanks for the fast responses! Would bichirs of similar size ever be eaten by another? Would that even be a possibility, or do they generally get along? I was thinking of getting a delhezi AFTER I upgrade tanks first, are there any problems with full grown adults like adult "tiger giants"(love that name!) and adult size but still smaller bichirs? For example would a 3' endli eat a 2 ' ornate or a 1' delhezi or senegal?

Yup if it fits their mouth most likely it'll become food. Generally you would want to keep them together at relatively the same sizes. You have to think in terms of girth also and not just length. You can probably keep an ornate or endli together with delhezis or senegals for quite sometime but eventually you would have to separate them because of the eventual size difference. As far as different species getting along, for the most part they will leave each other alone provided you have a big enough tank. But once in a while you might run into an aggressive bichir so it also depends on the personality of the fish.
