I bought a small sword plant from Petsmart for my cichlid tank. I washed out the plant and scrubbed the leaves to remove any snail eggs. I haven't seen a snail egg before so are they large or really small?

Depends on the species of snail, but some are quite small. If you've scrubbed it down thoroughly, chances are there aren't any hidden eggs left.

Egg-laying snails, which deposit eggs in water, usually have their eggs encased in a mass of jelly. Larger moon snails deposit brightly colored egg masses above the water line (no jelly). Snails like trapdoor snails and MTS are live-bearing.
