If so, will it be required for me to get an ro system?

Cant use any copper based treatments. Also be wary of old copper plumbing.......stingrays are relatives of sharks e.i. Elasmobranchs.......they have gel liked sensory organs and metals play havoc with them.....

I use a heavy metal axe...love it! You do not need RO, it will be hassle based on the amount and frequency of water changes IMO.

drinking water.... it's cheap

I think you are missing the point of the thread, if the tap water is full of metal what do you do? if you mean bottled water then that can be full of sodium AND would not be practical for large tanks

Still need dechlorinator with tap water and that is why some are suggesting prime.
