I'm trying to figure out are the peacock bass from Florida hybrids or are they true ocellaris from another location besides Guyana, surinam,French Guyana (if that's right)or Brazil which i haven't seen one they were monoculas, i have a about four and they have black blotches between there bars. Ocellaris from Guyana don't have that that's a trait monoculas have. If anyone knows please share. Here are 3 photos for example the first one is my wild caught Guyana ocellaris(from snooker21 i wish he was still in business) the second is a brokopundo and the third is from Florida.

I’m not sure, I live in south Florida and the peacocks from canal to canal and town to town vary coloration

To me they tend to look more like monos than ocellaris, but I can almost guarantee they are all hybrids of the two. Many different species of cichla were introduced back in the 80s and only this hybrid variation seemed to survive South Florida's climate over the years.

I agree with you because in my first picture of the ocellaris from Guyana they don't have any blotchs in between there bars some may have a few but that's a trait of mono's. These are pure ocellaris from Guyana size is from 7-13 inches don't mind the temensis, and azul

And another thing i haven't seen any one online or in my local pet stores selling real ocellaris from Guyana there either from Florida that's why i made the post or there mono's is something going on with the trade from Guyana snooker21 always had them. Most of the vendors cant really tell the difference between ocellaris and monoculas at 3-4 inches, thus mono's are being called ocellaris if any one knows where i can get them please feel free to tell me.

When they first released the peacocks they released temensis which did not work but would be cool and the ocellaris or whatever it is
