Are there any advantages to moon lights?

Most people use them because they want to draw their fish out from hiding or simply like the look.

I realize that lights which simulate sunlight are healthy for fish, so health wise do moonlights help fish at all?

Anybody know?!?!?!

For bedroom tanks, it is almost required for those sleepless nights. Looking at a night time fish tank is way better than staring at the ceiling. Night time behavior is quite placid...really cool stuff.

For tanks out in the rest of the house, it is pointless unless you want your fish to see in the dark. For nocturnal fish, it will give them their own time.

I put moon lights on my tanks to keep the fish from running into the glass at night. I don't know if one fish bumping into the other in the dark was causing them to freak out. But after I put in the moon lights I haven't had any problems.

They greatly reduce the chance of spooking and injurying fish in the night. I found my aro's would have bumped and scratched heads in the AM before adding the moon lights. Plus they look really cool:D .

I agree. I'm convinced that moon lighting on my aro tank keeps my aro from being spooked by the other fish in a dark tank. They has been no night time jumping since adding night lighting.
