apart from getting an Anteater?

I have ants invading my kitchen about 12 feet away from my tank, I have used Nippon Ant powder outdoors but I am dubious about using it indoors. On the label it suggests you cover and fish tanks whilst you use the powder but i'm not sure if I want to risk it.

Any experiences or suggestions anyone can share with me?

My apartment complex comes in and sprays for bugs and what not every few months. The first time they came out, they were awesome enough to say, "Hey we need you to cover your tanks and then we will come back". They sprayed, laid their goo, traps, etc. Never had any issues. I just made sure that each tank was covered completely. I have also set off flea bombs around the tanks. Comforters are thick, usually cheap (goodwill) and washable.

I had orkin come in to spray for fleas, and just put huge bags over my tanks and taped them on. Make sure you turn your filter off for a little while you're doing it.

make a trap get some honey and they'll stick right to it

Thanks for the suggestions, I covered the tank and used the powder. It kept the ants out for a week or so but they are coming in again now, I think i'll get some of those bait boxes next time i'm shopping.

I get good results with a combination of poisined bait stations and barrier spray.I get these items from Home Depot.I'm guessing you have a similar place to shop if there are no Home Depot stores there.
