like in septicemia? the most obvious sign is red streaks on the body and/or fins, and on the body, the red streaks will be lining the edges of the scales (and it can start from anywhere on the body, the back, side or belly). this can spread very quickly if left untreated.

the reason I ask is because his front fins are red and his back tail is red. but that could just be from the ornate he is in with.

But other than that he is perfectly normal.

At first they might but as it progresses they will clamp, stop eating, hang near the surface, and hemmorage even more. It is often treatable unless let go too long.

they can. but like moonchild said, as it progresses, the fish can become lethargic and stop eating (however the 'hanging near the surface' part isn't true...that just depends on the fish).

if it's septicemia and isn't treated (or if the meds is not effective), you will see the red streaks spreading as the week goes by.

so sounds like yours is likely just bites from the ornates. if you like, you can try to take a pic and post.

I am camera-less (it was destroyed)

I'll watch for symptoms and make sure the "red" isn't spreading to the actual body. I added more places to hide so hopefully that helps the aggression.
