I have a pair that is gonna spawn soon cause I see both of their breeding tubes. The females tube is almost down.

Anyway, I've seen sals with really really red bellies when in spawning mode. But mine just have spots on the belly. The male has some spots too. I was wondering if this pair is off a different strain or this is just a result of inbreeding?

Salvinis are found in different locations (in the wild) and there is a decent amount of variation among individuals in locations.

From Cichlid Room Companion: http://www.cichlidae.com/gallery/species.php?id=190

exCichlasoma salvini exhibits a great degree of variability in coloration within its distribution range, with the most colorful individuals found in the central part of their distribution, Two particularly beautiful strains inhabit the upper Candelaria river system, where males and females are equally beautifully colored, and the lakes around the city of Villahermosa in the lower Griljalva river system, both populations with intense red colored bellies. Populations in the eastern part of the Yucatan peninsula have very little or no red in the belly, even for females.

Unless you know the provenance of your fish to the wild, it's a moot point.
