The eggs are a beige color. I went to feed my community fish tank last night and noticed eggs on the filter intake tube. I have tiger barbs, 1 molly, 3 black fin tetras, 1 gourami and 2 angel fish in the tank. I didn't know who's eggs they were until I noticed the angel fish protecting their eggs.
What do I need to do, will the other fish eat the fry? Should I seperate them? I am in the process of moving the community tank to a 55 gallon once I get my 125 set up for my Oscars.
My question to you is do I move all the fish including the parent angels to the 55 and just leave the eggs in the 30?
This is a first time for me, help me!!!!

well the eggs are fertile, if they ture white they are dead, i would move all the toehr fish and leave the parents witht he eggs they SHOULD look after them, and will feed them until the fry is about 2-3weeks old, then they will lay again and either ignor the current fry of eat them, it is this time when you separate them. If this is the first time for the parents, they will more then likely eat the eggs, but if you want to breed them then i would leave them in the 30gal by them selves and in a couple of months they will have gotten the hang of it and you will have lots of little baby angel fish. Good luck :)

Thanks, just got home from work and noticed that about 6 of them are white, which is fine because there are still about 100 eggs still beige in color. I am so happy I got a breeding pair.
Well, the 125 gets set up today and I will be able to move the fish to a different home.
Thanks!!!

On the filter intake? Good luck getting them off there alive. Can't scrape them off, and when they become free swimming they'll just get sucked in. If you want to try and keep them alive, take an old pair of womens' nylons and cut a chunk out of it and rubber band it over the filter intake so they cannot get sucked in.

Also, You're going to want to start some Brine Shrimp eggs soon.

If you want to pursue angel breeding, I would recommend some slates. Most angels, unless wild caught, will be very poor parents. Occasionally you get lucky, but not often. The eggs would be better off removed and raised by you.

I didn't even know they were male and female. They were the only 2 angels I bought and lucky me, they are a pair. The eggs have since been eaten by the parents, so I took the opportunity to take the filter intake tube out and wrap a small piece of pantyhose around the intake and did a waterchange. I also, stuck 2 pieces of slate in so they can lay the eggs on the slate instead of the filter intake.
I also took out the other fish that were in there, I had to wait to move them until I moved my other large cichlids to their 125 gal. home.
Now, the angels have the 30 gallon to themselves to spawn again. The female is full of eggs already, her tummy is bulging.

Clear yellow=infertile, cream-beige = fertile, white+dead. Don't expect the first batch to survive, mom eats most.
Slates are best, tiles or wide leaf plants are almost as good.
They will breed every 30-45 days if unsucessful.
As soon as they start breeding replace your mechanical filtration with sponge filters or most fry go right up the spout.

Thanks Guppy, I think I have it setup the right way now, now that I know they are a breeding pair.

Woah Woah Woah, Breed once every 30-45 days if unsucessful? My pair bred last weekend, I didnt pull them, (and forgot to feed them..opps) So they ate them, and were unsucessful. Yet...they spawned again this weekend, about 300 eggs I'd guess.
