I am doing a diy sump from a polypropylene 55 gallon tote. I bought 2 totes to cut in a way to insert inside to act as 2 baffles since these totes stack. But I need to fill a possible gap and bond these together which leads me to these products which supposedly can bond polypropylene seeing as how glue doesn't work well.

So are these safe?

Supertac 500 glue sticks (no clue how these differ to standard hot glue sticks)

Have you tried silicone? I made some plant stands with some rocks that I tested for hardness and what not. I started bonding them together with hot glue sticks but it wasn’t very sturdy, so I used silicone to cap it all off.

I did a bit of research and it seems as if aquarium silicone is just regular silicone. You just need to make sure it cures for 24-48 hrs before adding to the tank or sump in your case. Aquarium silicone from pet store-$12 for a small tube. Tube of silicone at Home Depot-$5, 10x the size.

Just a thought. I can’t personally confirm or deny the specific products you mentioned though.

Silicone is not known for sticking to polypropylene, it will pop free eventually
