I've bought myself one of these little guys from my LFS. My LFS tends to get names of fish species mixed up. I'm wondering if i've got myself a baby giant gourami

No idea about sex at that age, but those are definitely Giants. I hope that's what you wanted, and I hope that you are ready for what it will grow into, i.e....well, a giant! :)

Definitely among the coolest fish I have ever kept. Good luck, and enjoy. :)

They are line bred (for pink color) Osphronemus goamy) You may be able to determine sex when they hit about 2 ft in length, or slightly smaller.
The LFS labelled them as yellow gouramis. I've tried searching up on the existing colour morphs of giant gouramis but only the white and albino variants of them seems to be the most common. Are these guys considered to be "pinks" as you mention ? Or is there a different name for them. I know for a fact mine isn't albino, albino's have red eyes

That would be called a "gold" Giant Gourami (or Goramy) in my neck of the woods.

It really doesn't matter what the color moniker name is, they are all just O. goramy line -bred morphs.
It's same as line bred red or long fin Oscar, or Tilapia morphs, you can call them blue, or platinum or anything you want, its still an aquarium strain (or restaurant strain depending on where you live) Tilapia .

just as your location may determine whether its a pet, or your lunch.
