Please take a look and let me know.

The poly I have is a full grown male Senegal. The tank has four lids. One pair of lids is cut to fit. The other pair had gaps (see pics)

Tank has a hood and a light system resting on it.

Thanks

Why take the risk. I always blew people off when they said polys were Incredible escape artist. I've lost my best endi and best delhezi from being ignorant and leaving small gaps open. Takes a small amount of effort to close those gaps so why take the risk. I feel pretty certain that a poly could wiggle its way out of those gaps. Don't risk it. Learn from others mistakes.

use a screen or mesh to cover the tank and put the lid on top of it. if you can put weight on top of the lid, that will be good. i personally saw my male trying to jump and crashing on the lid, it's a good thing i have some weight on it. he did it multiple times.

I agree, when they decide to have a little freak out swimming frantically around they can bang a lid right off.
Mine will wedge them selfs in the filter piping and bust it off the side of the tank. They a quite strong when they want to be.

yes, it'll will rust. As an alternative you have some scrap thick glass cut to size and just use it as weights on your lids. my lids are about 6cm thick, but the male can easilly move it. I also use pots as weights as I don't have a hood like your tank.
