I've seen these cichla for sale and they look a lot like orino's to me. It's shape of the head and big eyes that makes me think so.
I know they are very small but what do you guys think?

man to small to tell for me.. might have to wait for b00st or some of the others to chime in.. for me they could be anything at that size.. sorry dude.

They are advertised as ocellaris but I bought an ocell a few months back that turned out to be an orino. These guys look very similar to my orino when he was small. I seems that most the cichla imported into the uk are sold as ocellaris. I've bought 4 so far and ended up with 3 monos and one orino.

yeh thats what happens here in AUS aswell.. it seems like the general rule is when in doubt label them as Farm Ocells or Monos lol.

lol..at that size they are Peacock Bass...that what one of my lfs always have them labeled

i personally think...that you should just buy em all and see what you get. :headbang2
but i think theres orino in there.

when they are tiny ocellaris and orinocensis are tough to tell apart. they both will have red eyes, the head shape is similar. the bars that will be bars on ocellaris and spots on orinos may seem smaller and more defined on orinos when they are tiny, but unless you know the parents it's only a guess before the spots become defined.

but i have seen orinos with spangles and their spots well defined at 3". But they were well established in a tank that they had been comfortable in since they were 1".

going by the head profile, I want to say Orinos, but it's a toughy.

its a possibility but they dont have that tint to them
