Hi everyone I'm new to the forum but into fish for 20 years. Question I just set up a 20 gal for my 4 year old son I put what I thought were gray granite rocks in. Are these cause my ph to spike to 7.6. I cycled it with my 180s water and that tank is neutral 7.0.
Are these rocks making my ph spike?

Im thinking there not granite. The substrate is the same as my other tanks. I just took the rocks out ill check it in the am.
I pulled the rocks out lastnight and checked this morning it shot down to 7.0. I found out that the rock was limestone. I should have checked them first but they were free.
