Are thinbars more stable than indo's? What makes them so special?

To me, an indo looks nicer based on the wider looking bars vs a thinbar's bars.

Is it that they're not as aggressive as indo's?

In my opinion, Thinbars can maintain their stableness better than indos can. But then again you must consider your tank conditions as well. Thinbars also tend to be on the non-aggressive side. I have kept my thin bar with various community fish with no problems at all as long as they are bigger than its mouth. I hope this helps

each fish has different personality as well as how it can adjust to certain things. same with humans. so the answer to your question will be No. some datnoids stay stable under any condition others semi stable and unstable. its so the possibility of datnoids being stable in the tank is 50/50.

The way I see it, if you got the NTT stable from the LFS or somewhere, there's a good chance it will be stable the rest of its life. That's how it has been for my 3 NTTs. The same applies to unstable ones. I got a 8-9" NTT and its been unstable with washed out bars since I first got it 2 years ago. Its not aggressive and a voracious eater but still unstable. It's the only unstable dat I got in my 100 gallon.

With IT, I think they are more susceptible to being unstable. I got an 8" IT in the same sank and its stable most of the time. During water change, it becomes a little bit unstable and it darkens up just a tiny bit. After the change, it goes back to is stable self. It's also partially blind. I think it has blurred vision because its eyes have had a haze on it the past year. Its as fat as a pig though

I've seen more stable ITs in lfs than NTTs, however, I see a lot of stable NTTs here on the forum.

I agree with Noah, If an NTT at an lfs is stable there's a good chance it will be stable for the rest of it's life. ITs is a 50/50 game. In the end it all results from each fish and condition.

My runt of an Indo is always stable[some of you eyeball it:headshake]. When I had NTTs they were stable but they were shy. My ITs were usually more active too.

It really depends on chance and the fish. There were dats that I had in the small tank and when I threw them into the big tank, they went stable and stayed that way and vice versa.
