On February 17, 2009 the era of analog broadcast television in the United States will end as the nation completes its transition to an all-digital system. While this change will mark the end of the traditional analog method of broadcasting over-the-air television, it won’t signal the end of free broadcast television, and your favorite broadcast programs and local television stations will still be available.

Consumers that subscribe to a "pay" television service such as cable and satellite aren’t likely to be affected by the switch, but if you currently receive analog television over the air or via an antenna, you’ll need to take action to continue watching your favorite stations

Bring it on!!!

Can't come soon enough:D

I believe the original date in the US changeover has come and gone, I think it was suppose to happen in 2006. The date has slipped a few times, some due to delays in getting the new equipment set up, and some due to the government/lawyers and large sums of money that the changeover represents. The whole issue really isn't about a better TV picture, but that by changing to digital signals each channel uses less bandwidth and its expected that about 50 billion will be made on the auction of the bandwidth that it freed-up.

High definition tv is a rip off a freind of mine got it pays 35$ more a month for it we put a older 90's tv with antenna next to the sony flat screen with hi-def it's maybe 2 years old and there's no difference in the picture i don't feal like i am there in the game or in a jungle or whatever it's false advertising and just a beat in general i did the pepsi challenge with the technology and if u don't belive me try it yourself .

really its the opposite. Switch to digital is because it uses more bandwidth as analog couldnt sustain it and was going to be replaced by digital anyway.

Either you have bad eyesight or your friend's set wasnt receiving HD. SD on a HD set doesnt look that good but if you flip from HD to SD (or do S x S) you'll see the difference.
