it may be because they're small but it seems like my gymnos aren't as outgoing as my other fish. they seem to only want to hide. i had them w/o plants for a while and very little hiding spots and my largest just sulked in a corner. should i expect them to become more outgoing as they get larger?

my quillero just seem to hid all the time? dont you have quillero too?

Yes, I have wild and F1. The wilds are full grown adults and don't hide or act skittish at all. The smaller F1's are little more skittish but they always come out and eat a lot and don't really hide. They will go to the back of the tank when I walk up or turn on the lights initially but always come back up front to eat and act normal after a few seconds.

When i first got my balzanii, they were in a 10 gallon growout and were absolutely terrified of me. Since I have moved them to a community 77 setting with more hiding spots etc they are always front and center.

let me know when you wanna let some go :headbang2

i got a yellow G. Balzanii and he started off really shy, now that hes about 3" hes starting to show some balls and being more dominant which is great, i think just give them time

I have some F1s. The male is really outgoing and even swims up to feed at the surface. The females hang closer to the bottom, but are always out and never hide

My gymnos are in my bedroom so when I walk by in a hurry they will hide, but otherwise they dont mind my actions too much. Mine dont beg like some of my other fish but definitely come out to see whats going on if I just sit in front of the tank.
