both my severums are shy and skitish they swim but hide alot had them for 3 months water is good , feeding is varied diet on a regular basis with a day of fasting a week they are roughly 3 to4 inches is this something that will go away with time

Yes, mine are shy. Males tend to become very personable as they get nearer to maximum size. Of course, as with all Cichlids, the variance from fish to fish can be quite extensive; some fish are just introverted or extroverted, regardless of conditions, tankmates, diet, mood, etc.

Mine is shy when there is movement in the room but other than that hes is ok dosnt really hide much and is even a little weary of feeding as well

Mine is kind of shy. If hes hiding and I come in the room he stays hidden but if he is out and I come in, he doesn't seem to care.

If food is involved he doesn't even notice me just the food.:D

my gold wasnt shy. quite the opposite, if you got close to the tank he would face you like he was challenging you. after he settled in he beat the snot out of everything except the GT.

mine were when they were younger. my male is about 7" and my female is about 6". they're out by the front wanting food every time i come by the tank

Mine all love being right out in the front of the tank and fallow me around the room as I work on the other tanks. I would say they are far from being shy.

thankyou very much. Mine must be the shy type lol, i appreciate everyones replys. Mine are fine if i walk in and there out and about but when they hide they hide they wont even want food
