Anyone have success having tankmates in with their Argenteas? What tankmates?

I have a 6 inch Argentea in a 125. I put him and a 5 inch Barracuda in together first. The Argentea pretty much ignores him, so I think these mates will work. I then put a 5 inch Green Terror in. I knew this would be a risky move. At first, the GT got his fins ripped up pretty good. It has gotten better between these two, but I will monitor them and will not be suprised if this does not work out long term.

The aggression against the GT did not suprise me. I next put in a 8 or 9 inch Catfish, and the Argentea went after him too!! I have not seen any aggression against the Cat today, so this looks like it may work. Oh yeah, and there are three small clown loaches that the Argentea pretty much ignores.

If the GT does not work out, I am thinking of removing him and putting in a school of Silver Dollars. I wonder if that would work.

Argentea owners, please help with ideas on tankmates.

These guys are pretty nasty - Honestly I think he would rip up the silver dollars. I have not kept them, but have observed them at stores. They do fine in communities of other tankbusting cichlids. To be honest, a GT is pretty mellow compared to some of the Central Americans. I think that'd be your best bet.

Yeah, I was not sure about Silver Dollars. I was just thinking that since they are non-cichlids, and pretty quick he may ignore them.

You think that if I took out the GT and replaced him with a cichlid that could stand up for itself that that would work? Or would that be asking for trouble?? An LFS has a very cool pretty big Black Belt. Bad idea?
