Here's a video of my new pickups. They were bought from Gage at Cichlid Connection and arrived the previous Tuesday. I couldn't get good enough pics with my IPhone so i figured id see how a video portrayed them. ( Sorry about the background noises.. children lol and the tank isn't 100% clear as i just did my quarterly maintenance on my fx5.

Let me know what you think!

They look great! Looking forward to more updates when they settle down.

Looks like you have pretty strong current in the tank. Are the fish handling it ok?

Lastly, KILLER ROCKS! What kind are they and where did you get them from? :)

Gotta agree, looking great!

Those are all riverine strains of those species, I'd imagine they like the current. I've got about 3000+ gph blowing through my 225. :) Rocks like that you can buy at Home Depot or Lowe's for cheap in the landscaping section. Not sure were OP got his!

Thank Peat and clock!

Yea its not 3000gph but its a good amount, and they seem to enjoy it alot. Yep the river rocks are from Lowes and they ran a little under 7$ a bag. To cover the bottom like I did it took me 5 bags, so no too bad. i actually like them alot more than the sand i had in there.

definitely. i was going to use them in the tank but on the sand and only in certain areas, but when i put them in there i liked the look so much i swapped the sand out and covered the whole bottom in them. The smaller fish seem to like the aswell as they hide in the crevices.

Bu on the fish not i couldnt be happier with the three that i bought. I know alot of people said the the Argentea and black Belt would terrorize the Regani but so far its been the exact opposite. In fact the only aggression being shown in the tank are towards the bigger red hooks. Im stoked though. Cant wait for the Regani and BB to color up and put same size on. All i have to do is wait and plan on what to add next.

Cool. I got my rocks from a local landscaping score. Gotta check out Lowes...

I think they're called Mexican beach pebbles or something like that. A big bag is like $6. I like to mix it with a bit a gravel on top of sand to give it "texture."

Nexxus, only thing to watch out for is food and waste getting trapped in there long term!

Yea I had the same thought clockwork, I now move them around and vacuum them out once a week while I'm doing water changes.

Thanks flowerpower he's already starting to pop so I got good expectations for him.

Great looking pickups. I am looking at the regani and argenta from him as well. What size of each did you order?? I would like an argenta about 3-4" and a regani that size but his argentas are bigger...I have a 3-4" bifa and 3-3.5" syn in the same tank (will be a 96x30x30 once it arrives)
