Arius graeffei

Hey I got an arius graeffei today does anyone know if they spend a lot of time sitting on the bottom? Mine is and I am worried that there may be something wrong with it.

Give it time to calm down and get used to the tank. There's a period where all fish don't do anything once first put into the tank.

Also, I've read that they have poisonous barbs on their fins, I'm not sure if its true, but I'd watch out

yeh they do hav "poisonus" barbs. there just painful and have anti coagulants in there slime. the only real pain is when u catch 70cm specimens(trust me i would know from experience!). this is one of the reasons i stopped purchasing salmon tail cats as they always wouldnt eat and die off. try and feed bloodworms if within the next2-3 days it isnt eating call the shop u got it from and ask wat it was eating. i know blood worms are good as well as earth worms also have some feeders in the tank.

I think it just doesn't like the light very much. I already asked it ate algae wafers in the shop, it hasn't eaten yet.

algae wafers? feed it more carniverous foods than that like worms.

Alage wafers and seaweed are fine. They also like flakes actually. Most are just pigs that eat anything. A carnivorous diet isnt natural at all for them.

Actually I am pretty sure it's a arius berneyi now I'll have to post a picture for someone to clarify though.

there are over 50 different species in the genus arius. dont worry about which is which as they all look the same(close enough)
