Armatus & Aimara

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Surprisingly they don't fight at all. I have had them together for almost a year now.

I raised both of them in separate tanks and they were both really aggressive towards the other fish I had them with. I knew both of them needed a larger tank than I had them in so I decided to try putting them together.

Sometimes I find them sitting by each other side by side with no reaction they just totally ignore each other.

Intresting........ Maybe Aimaras are misunderstood. Maybe they are capable of tolerating tankmates if given enough room?

Is the Aimara a VZ variant?

One of the craziest combo I've ever seen. Congrats! Looks really nice.

How big are they?

DB - I think Aimaras can be kept with other fish if given enough room. I don't think both of these guys will be able to live in a 600 gallon for the rest of there lives though. Eventually I think I will need a 750 or 1000 gallon.

He is from the Amapa river Brazil and both are in the range of 20 to 24 inches.

Very intresting..... I've heard that VZ variants are most aggressive.

My Aimara is also an Amapa variant, and I have had mine with rays well over a year and other fish like a silver Aro, clown knife, Brycon, Barbs, and even Dorado for several months now...... Seems fine with everything I've tried so far. Plenty of room though, the tank is a 750.

Yours came from Shark Aquarium too?
