ARMATUS CANNIBALIZE??

fish will eat fish no matter what species, like snickers "hungry why wait?"
 
As far as I have seen all predators will cannabilize the small or weak.

Hell even guppy's eat there own fry.:ROFL:

What i found amazing by that show was the size of the fish being eaten. :eek:
 
dang..i was even planning on adding another armatus of the same size.
that scared me...
 
same size is best way to minimize risk, that and keep em well fed. fed with food that's smaller in size to get the used to that may help
 
It's survival of the fittest in the wild. I haven't heard of any cannibalism going on in captivity, especially ones that are close in size.
 
WOw thats pretty freaky looking. Making me think again about putting both mine in the same tank..... I know it amazes me everytime I feed them large shiners how quickly they swallow them with ease. I am talking like up to about 1/2 their length. I would assume they have to be pretty darn hungry before they would cannibalize. I am not sure though. It is difficult to find any good reliable info about the Armatus in the wild. I dunno why with their appearance you would think everyone would be a little more interested.
 
it wont probably happen in a home or public aquaria since they are always well fed. i thought only piranhas cannibalize!:WHOA:
