So I got my new armatus a week ago now. It is feeding brilliantly on prawn stuffed with massivore and seems very healthy.

The issue is that it has a bit of nose damage which does not seem to be healing as quickly as I would like, because it keeps rubbing it against the side of the tank. Im not sure if it is doing it because it can somehow see its reflection or because it is irritating it. I have added some salt. Anyone know how to stop this? is it something armatus do? or do I just need to wait and it will sort itself out?

Armatus is about 7". Tank is 240g but it is separated off in one end at the moment. The only decor is a floating plant

i put a powerhead on the bottom of my tank blowing over the substrate and my Armatus loves to swim in front of it .... keeps him from rubbing against the glass too much.... unfortunately nose rubs are a common problem.... i've also heard blacking out the sides of the tank helps depending on where he's rubbing

Jeez I just wrote something like this just yesterday!

My big tip is to cover the front and back of the tank with a black background. I have a 7.5 inch armatus in my growout tank and it used to rub its nose against the glass like crazy until the tip of it's nose was completely gone. That was approx 2 months ago. After when I covered the tank up, my armatus became calmer and calmer each day BUT not right away. Now, my armatus is super calm for some reason even when I do WCs. Mine used to freak out so badly. I also don'y need the cover anymore.

The nose that was badly damage is healing nicely and is almost like normal except of a more darker color at the point. Hope my tip helps!

This is good advice. If he has some nose damage add some salt, he'll clear up in no time.
