Just a quick question for the Armatus pros. My 2 have been off live for a little while now. I would still like to feed them live from time to time (like today :) )..... Will this set me back as it does some fish? I am still pretty new to the armatus. I don't want to go backwards, but I don't have time to "stuff" their frozen and want to make sure they are getting all the proper nutrients.

To some extent, yes.
Well at least for Raphs but I guess payara act alike anyways. I once was able to wean my Rhaphs on frozen feeders but after they took live again, they wouldn't go back to eating dead.
But at least I have plenty of live food for them...

if i treat w live food, my armatus will only go 1 or 2 days until he goes back to frozen

Cool thanks guys. Gavigan1 that is awesome, I would love to get them on some sticks some day.

Be a good idea to drop the water level in the tank significantly then. VERY common for them to smash into lids once they figure out the food doesn't sink. I had a Rhaph that loved it's krill so much it eventually did permenant damage to it's grille.

Good advice. I built a wood canopy about 12in high. Not 100% pleased with canopy due to water dripping down front of the tank but comes in handy with spooking high flying fish that are prone to head injuries-like arowanas and payara.

what's the trick to getting them off feeders?
