There is plenty of info on both species. If you use the search function at the top, you will probably find all the info you need. If you have a specific question that hasn't been answered, post it up and I'm sure there are plenty of people here willing to help. 
Yeah, there's lots of info that can be easily found...even some in the sticky section.
I haven't heard a good explanation yet on why scombs die at 12", but I've heard quite a few stories about it happening.

a scomb could live in a 130 but with a little resurch you'll find no one seems to be able to keep them alive past the 12'' mark then just seem to die for no apparent reason
