Armatus/Snakehead Cohab.........NO!!

Well I just picked up my old Armatus on Saturday. He was divided from my 2 big Wolves. I decided to move the wolves to a 150 I just picked up and try my Cobra Snakeheads with the Armatus figuring they would be ok as they are close to the same size. I was keeping close tabs on the situation. The Cohab lasted about 10 minutes. One of the snakeheads went up for air and the Armatus grabbed him by the tail. I ran over to the tank and started beating on it and he finally let go. I know he had lived with a few fish before but his attitude must have changed. The poor snakehead has marks on him as you can see in the pics. Needless to say they are divided now. I feel bad for the poor guy. He lost some of his dignity LOL!

ouch ,i would think the cobra would semi chase the armatus but i guess not.all 3 look great.GL.
i would try it again when the cobra's are about 10-11"

when you try it again i would put more fish in aswell like silver dollar or others to deter the armatus and cobra's from eachother

Hi,with different size predatory fishes,it will be the smallest to get beat up.

I think I am done with any cohabing of any kind between these 2. I hated seeing what I saw and felt really bad about doing that to him.

Armatus thought the cobra going up for air was food. Yeah try again when the cobras are bigger but then again armatus' have bad attitudes.

My thoughts exactly and that was my main worry. I think he did it to be a dick though because he just ate a massive piece of shrimp before I did the swapping. When he sees them swimming through the eggcrate he darts over and watches them.

I know what you mean,you almost had a colloseum deathmatch.Glad you were able to save the snakehead.
