snake in the grass
Great day....I came home to my Armatus belly up in his tank. He has been acting normal as can be eating great. Maybe they have the 12" death syndrome. The pleco and piranha(in the sump tank) are fine. Water params were spot on 0ppm-ammonia, nitrites......5ppm-nitrates. I will get some pics up when he gets frozen. Absolutely devastating.:(:(:(

dented nose?

ive heard a few times they bashed into the glass too hard...

sry or the loss :(

His one front tooth is chipped and the other is gone and his nose is white. It is not dented though.

Sorry to hear it man

Time to increase the (bowfin) collection.

So I see this sudden premature death syndrome is not exclusive to scombs, sorry for the loss and thanx for sharing, one step closer to solving this puzzle. Any additional information would be really great!

sounds like he knocked himself stupid

What size tank was he in?

72"x24"x24" 180 tank.......his nose is not destroyed. I do not think he did that. He never got crazy and would even nudge the siphon when I put it in. Nothing has changed in the tank for months. Same water changes, same tankmate, has been eating frozen for the last month, no live. Filtarion is a sump set-up with 1200 gph pump. I used a modded maxi-jet for extra flow and a nice current. My girl said he was breathing real hard and she seen him swimming upside down before I got home. I am lost and disgusted.

Here are a few pics.......he is frozen. RIP....Old Dad:rip! (that is what I called him LOL!) He was going into my in wall 550 in a month or so. Poor guy did not make it.

All of my past scombs and tat's were frozen with tooth picks holding there mouths open as well.

But I have no idea why i am keeping them. lol

Are you going to have it mounted?
